As I write this, I am bathed in the sunshine of the autumny season at present here in South Africa (SA)! As much as we are in for some cold and wintery weather to come, there’s something about the SA winter sun that warms you in a way that all the way inside..
I find myself in a very “floaty” phase in my life. Having undergone some major transitions in the last few months, there are times when I still feel like I don’t have my feet firmly planted on the ground. Many a times of recent, I have found myself lost, feelings of confusion and feeling overwhelmed as I navigate this new chapter of my life. Having been in a “routine” and familiar surroundings for the larger part of my adult and working career life, it still feels surreal at times to find myself making way ahead..
This warm sun reminds me of one of my favourite sayings – “When you can’t find the sunshine, BE the sunshine”… As someone who is generally a very optimistic and happy person, I have come to embrace the darker more less sunshiney days that come with the ebb and flow of life.
So today, I want to remind you that it’s okay if you have those down dark days. That it’s not always all sunshiney and roses, but to also remind you that no matter how dark the night, the sun will always come out the next day (at least in most parts of the world!)…So if you are a bit down and out, or know that you get these phases, look for YOUR sunshine.. whether it’s a song you listen to or a friend who lifts your spirits, a movie you watch or a passage from a book or your scriptures that you read – BE and FIND your sunshine to cope with those not so sunshiney days!
Be kind and gentle with yourselves.. We are indeed living through challenging times, but there is always some hope, faith and sunshine to keep one going
Much love always, Poonam
